Cheviots Challenge
News Update
The 2008 Cheviots Challenge had 335 people particpating in the long and short routes. This raised £3600 for the Team. We thank you all.

The Eileen Lynn short route is now a well established alternative and saw about the same numbers participating as in previous years. In memory of Terry Lynn we have now renamed the long route the Terry Lynn Long Route.

As usual, the 2009 Cheviots Challenge starts and finishes at the Rose and Thistle Alwinton in Upper Coquetdale. For both routes, walkers and fell runners start by walking or running, to Middle Hill and it is here where the routes part! We only give the "bare bones" of routes, as we like to keep routes "secret" to challenge your navigational skills!

All routes end with a gentle descent into Alwinton ( Alwinton history ), where friendly smiles await and a thirst quenching pint of ale served by Jean or her daughter, the landlady of the Rose and Thistle.

Should you need to brush up on your navigational skills, then use the computer presentation, which is available as a free download from the Ordnance Survey. There is, of course, no substitute in being outdoors with a map and compass in your hand!

Have a nice day! We know you will.
